Big Dog celebrated the “Topping Out” of two landmark projects in Fort Lauderdale – over 525,000 square feet of new space added to the Broward County Convention Center and the new Omni Hotel.
Big Dog worked under a County Business Enterprise (CBE) contract with ADF International. These projects utilized 7,804 tons of structural steel, including 13 massive trusses, each spanning 180 feet and weighing 40 tons. The trusses were successfully erected on-site with the use of two crawler cranes.
Big Dog coordinated ironworkers from 17 unions around the country. A total of 125,000 manhours were spent on these projects, with up to 100 workers onsite at any time.
